AN EASTER Ross man has admitted defrauding a bank of £2,647 by using false information to set up a credit card account.

Alistair Mackinnon (44) of Inverbreakie Drive, Invergordon, admitted by letter at Tain Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday) that at 8 Castle Close, Invergordon, on October 18 last year pretending to BNA Europe Bank, Chester by a written application that he was Michael Henderson of 8 Castle Close, Invergordon.

The charge adds that he induced the bank to issue him with a credit card and he used the credit card with a false name to amass debt of £2,647.70 by fraud.

Sheriff David Sutherland called for background reports and deferred sentence on Mackinnon until July 17 when he must appear in person at the court.
