AN ALNESS man who was struck by a car and killed on the A9 on Tuesday has been named by police.

Ali Neval Ergun (52) died after being hit by a northbound vehicle between the Alness Point and Dalmore junctions around 7.10pm.

The A9 was closed for sevearl hours with diversions through Alness while officers from the Dingwall-based road policing unit carried out investigations.

Police divers also searched the River Alness to see if any other property could be recovered that might be connected to the accident.

Police say a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
