LOCHALSH Junior Pipe Band has been nominated for Scottish Pipe Band of the Year at the prestigious Scots Trad Music Awards 2017.

The nomination follows a year of notable successes for the youth pipe band.

In May the band became British Championships in its Novice Grade B section at the championship in Paisley and the following month took second place in the European Championships held in Forres.

The Scots Trade Music award is decided by public vote and the band is vying with Inveraray and District, Royal Burgh of Annan and Dollar Academy for the top spot.

The group of talented and dedicated young musicians, and Highland Council instrumental instructors who work with them, are encouraging the public across the Highlands to spread the word and help them collect as many votes as possible.
