TELEVISION broadcaster and Strictly Come Dancing star John Sargeant has been in Ross-shire filming for a prime time TV show.
The former BBC chief political correspondent spent the last few days in Wester Ross making a mini-series for the popular BBC programme, the One Show.
The well-known presenter has been indulging his love of sailing by exploring three of Scotland’s west coast sea lochs and meeting the people that live and work around them - Loch Ewe, Loch Alsh and Loch Fyne.
The crew also made a trip to the remote community of Scoraig near Ullapool, visited Inverewe Garden, and filmed interviews about the Russian Arctic Convoys. The footage will feature stunning aerial photography of the area as well as footage taken from the yacht, the Spirit of June which was hired for the shoot from Peter Henderson who runs a yacht charter business at Badachro near Gairloch.
The area was picked for the TV programme following a successful bid by the Loch Ewe Visitor Information Centre.
Tracy McLachlan, manager of Loch Ewe Visitor Information Centre, said: "When I heard that the BBC One Show were planning to film on some west coast sea lochs I put in a detailed bid for Loch Ewe and offered to make the arrangements for their visit. I was delighted when they took me up on the offer and selected Loch Ewe as one of their film locations!"
Producer Kieran McCarthy of the BBC One Show thanked the Loch Ewe Visitor Information Centre for all their help before and during the filming. John Sergeant added: "With perfect weather, we got some marvellous helicopter shots; Loch Ewe has never looked better. We were very impressed with Inverewe Garden and hope you succeed with the Russian Arctic Convoy Museum."
Tracy added: "They had fantastic weather so it will be a terrific advert for the area. It won’t be a long piece but it’s prime time television so it will reach a wide audience."
The feature is due to be screened on the BBC One Show at the end of July.
