Eight weeks and counting for Clach!

CLACH have now been eight weeks without a game after Saturday’s home Highland League fixture against Rothes was washed out by the rain.

Not since Iain Polworth’s team beat Fort William in Inverness on December 23 have the Lilywhites had a competitive match.

This Saturday, they’ll hope the weather is fine in Keith as they aim to play only their 18 game of the season.

Nairn County also had another weekend off – their match at Fort William was called off, also due to a waterlogged pitch.

Les Fridge’s side have also been idle for some time, their last clash was their 1-1 draw at Formartine United on January 7.

Second-placed title favourites Forres Mechanics suffered their second successive defeat as they were edged out 3-2 in a cracker at Wick Academy. This leaves the long-time leaders two points adrift of Cove Rangers, but they still have two games in hand.

Cove, though, could have heaped further agony on Forres, but they were held to a 2-2 at home against Keith.

Missed chances cost champions Buckie Thistle dearly as bottom side Strathspey Thistle earned a 2-2 draw at Victoria Park, while Fraserburgh are fourth following their 5-1 cruise against Turriff United.

Huntly had no answer to Steve Paterson’s Formartine United as they were beaten 3-0 and Lossiemouth were 2-0 victors at Brora Rangers and Inverurie Locos were 1-0 winners at Deveronvale.
