Fridge wary of Maroons' key threats

LES Fridge has warned his Nairn County high-flyers to be wary of Keith's dangermen, who are recovering from their recent poor run of form.

The manager has pinpointed key players for his troops to contain when they visit Kynoch Park in the Highland League, on Saturday, in an attempt to avenge the defeat the Maroons inflicted on his side earlier this season.

Nairn are looking to extend their own decent run of form, furthered by a thumping 6-2 victory against Rothes on Saturday.

Fridge said: "We have a lot of confidence in all areas of the park at the moment. Nobody is pretending that we will win every game, though, and I know all too well that Keith away is a tricky fixture.

"Dean Donaldson and Cammy Keith are potent players, who we need to keep an eye on. Keith don't concede too many goals, and they got a fantastic 3-0 result away to Turriff at the weekend.

"There aren't any easy games in this league, and we aim to approach each game in the right way.

"We were 2-0 up against Keith at home earlier this season, and ended up getting nothing out of the game.

"That shows the commitment that has to be made every time you play."

Conor Gethins netted a hat-trick on Saturday as Nairn thrashed Rothes, adding to an early Steve Mackay strike, and one each from Dale Gillespie and Robbie Duncanson.

Rothes were in front for a spell in the first half, but the goals from Michael McKinnon and Iain Macrae were not enough to see the side undone by a surging Nairn second half performance.

The manager added: "I think we have been playing well enough recently. In the last couple of weeks, we have taken our chances.

"We scored some fantastic goals on Saturday and played a lot of good football. Creating and taking lots of chances will help to keep us at the top of the table.

"We are a very attacking team, and you can see that as we attack from middle to front. Players like Steven Mackay and Dale Gillespie can all score from the middle of the park."

Gregg Main missed out on Saturday and is a doubt for this weekend's crucial clash at Kynoch Park.
