Ross County boss Derek Adams will hope to face more SPL opposition by dumping St Mirren out of the William Hill Scottish Cup next week.

ROSS County will be heading to Perth or Tynecastle for the quarter-finals of the William Hill Scottish Cup – if they beat St Mirren in the Valentine’s Night replay in Dingwall.

County, current leaders in Irn Bru Division One, were a whisker away from knocking out the SPL Paisley Saints on Saturday, but a last-gasp spot-kick miss from captain Richard Brittain denied them the win.

Brittain had given County the lead before the break, but St Mirren’s Steven Thompson quickly restored parity.

This means a replay next Tuesday (February 14) at Victoria Park, Dingwall and the winner of the tie, which will be settled on the night will face an away day last eight clash against St Johnstone or Hearts, who drew 1-1 on Sunday.

Tie of the round is undoubtedly Dundee United v Celtic. United sent Rangers crashing out of the cup with a 2-0 win at Ibrox on Sunday, while Celtic were 2-0 winners at Inverness CT the day before.

The full quarter-final draw is: St Johnstone or Hearts v Ross County, Motherwell v Queen of the South or Aberdeen, Dundee United v Celtic and Ayr United or Falkirk v Hibernian.

These ties will be played on March 10-11.

* Ross County's rescheduled Division One fixture against Partick Thistle, which was scheduled to be played next Tuesday, will now be played on Tuesday, March 6, at 7.45pm.
