DEFENDER Scott Boyd landed the most readers' votes to win the North Star and Acorn Signs player-of-the-month award for March.

The stopper, whose late goal, knocked SPL side Hibs out of the Active Nation Scottish Cup quarter-finals, has put in a string of strong performances at the back for the Staggies, who have roared all the way to the Scottish Cup final against Dundee United at Hampden on May 15.

County manager Derek Adams said of the player the fans have tagged the Ginger Pele: "Scott has been excellent throughout the season and he keeps on improving. He has been very steady and certainly enjoys defending. He is certainly a deserved winner of the North Star prize."
