The 16-year-old claimed the national title in the youth female 66kg category after defeating Lexi Clarke of Southside Boxing Club in the final at Ravenscraig.

The Tain Royal Academy fifth year pupil put in a dominant performance to get the judges’ decision 4-1 after three rounds which last three minutes each.

Fioretti, who competes with Highland Boxing Academy in Inverness, defied the odds to become national champion as she was only competing in her second competitive contest.

She said after watching fellow HBA boxer Lindsay Fulton win the Golden Gloves last year, she was inspired to follow in her footsteps.

She said: “When I saw Lindsay win last year, it was something I was aiming and looking forward to.

“I had to face a tough opponent in the final as she was more experienced than me.

“It was a tough fight, but I stuck to the gameplan to win.

“I am glad to win the title.”

Fioretti first got involved in the sport while being a member of a YouthBox, an after school club in Tain where she learned self defence.

She was then inspired to join Highland Boxing Academy in Inverness to help her progress her career.

She says she has learned skills and techniques which have made her a better boxer.

“I have been with HBA since the end of 2022 and my coach Liam Foy has been great.

“He has taught me a lot of skills and how to prepare for fights. I travel to the club between two or three times a week from Tain and I really enjoy it.”

After her victory at the Golden Gloves, Fioretti is looking to take part in more competitions and aim to box for Scotland one day.
