A CHAMPION vegetable grower from Dingwall has been recognised for years of hard work on behalf of the cause.
Clearly a man who knows his onions Neil Drummond has received a gold medal from the National Vegetable Society, as someone who is well respected at all levels of the horticultural community.
Mr Drummond joined the Scottish branch of the society in 1992 and has attended all branch meetings since – involving a round trip of 350 miles.
A qualified competition judge since 1997 he also regularly presents on all aspects of vegetable growing across Scotland the north of England.
As part of his medal assessment the society was told he worked "tirelessly" to establish a north of Scotland district association of the society.
He achieved this ambition in 2013 and was chairman until 2016.
